Genus: Philodendron
This Genus has hundreds of species of foliage plants. Most have large, glossy, green leaves and add a lot of tropical flair to your space. Most Philodendron are also low maintenance and not fussy in their growing habits.
There are two types of philodendrons to choose from: vining and non-climbing. The lovely vining varieties grow quickly and prefer a support structure to climb on such as a trellis or plant clips. The non-climbing varieties grow upright and can be bushy and full in a container.
These plants are great for air purification but are toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
Plant Care
Although not fussy, Philodendrons prefer to be a bright, warm environment and not in direct sunlight. You can make your plant shine by dusting their leaves with a damp cloth.
They like loose, acidic potting soil that’s rich in organic matter and have a well draining container. Bottom watering is easy by letting your plant sit in a dish of water for 20-30 minutes, letting it drain, then placing it back in its home.
